Emma qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1990 she started her career at the Royal Free in London where she developed her specialist interest in Neurological Rehabilitation.

Emma’s interest is working with patients with complex neurological presentations and optimising their rehabilitation potential through holistic, client centred interventions.

Emma currently works alongside her private practice as an Associate senior lecturer at Sheffield Hallam university.

 

I maintain my continuing professional development by attending courses such as the Bobath courses, BBTA Bobath Trained.

 

Emma uses a client centred and evidenced base approach with a bias towards efficiency of movement through movement analysis and hands on facilitation so improve client’s ability to function in everyday life.

Rachel Young MSc, BSc (hons) Physiotherapy

 

Rachel qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1995 and specialised in neurology through a rotational post at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.

 

She completed an MSc in Neurological Physiotherapy in 2003 and is currently studying towards a doctorate focussed on accessible exercise following stroke.

 

Rachel has specialist experience in the physiotherapy management of people in hospital and community settings with: -

  • Traumatic acquired brain injury,

  • Sroke

  • Other progressive neurological conditions

  • Complex disability

 

She combines therapeutic movement facilitation with individualised exercise programmes to optimise physical performance for people with complex neurological changes. She is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals and supports people in exploring activity options that suit their individual goals and preferences.

Specialist clinical experience includes: 

  • BBTA Bobath trained

  • Level 3 Exercise prescription for complex conditions

  • Complex respiratory management

Rachel is an associate lecturer on the physiotherapy and sport science programmes at Sheffield Hallam University.

Stephanie Spindler

 began working at Sheffield Neuro Physio whilst continuing to work part time in the NHS.

I maintain my specialist skills by regularly attending courses such as the basic Bobath course, Sheffield’s Neurophysiotherapy Practice MSc module and locally run courses by the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology.

I have assisted in running a Neurology course aimed at junior physiotherapists and occupational therapists and have been a guest lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.

I have also taught Pilates privately since 2009 and enjoy transferring these skills to the neurological setting.

I have a special interest in-

  • Head injuries,

  • Multiple Sclerosis,

  • Parkinson’s

  • Stroke. In 2015

  • Pilates

  • Vestibular rehab

 

I worked initially in Barnsley hospital 

  • musculoskeletal physiotherapy,

  • condition management

  • pain management

  • stroke rehabilitation unit.

 

I also specialised in Neurology in Barnsley – As a Senior therapist I gained experience in:-

  • Neurological outpatients,

  • Neurological inpatient rehabilitation

  • stroke rehabilitation.

  • medical wards / community rapid response and intermediate care team.

Sara Goddard qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2003 and started her physiotherapy career where she gained experience in Neurology/ MSK out Pt/ Orthopaedics.

  • Specialist Physiotherapist in 2006 - Neurological conditions such as :-

  • Multiple Sclerosis,

  • Motor Neuro Disease,

  • Stroke,

  • Head injury,

  • Parkinson’s

  • Other neurological conditions

  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation trust is a regional centre for trauma and Neurological conditions Sara has extensive experience both the acute and community settings.

  • Currently works in the acute  and community care in Sheffield Frailty Unit

 

Sara is studying towards MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

 

Sara’s interest is working with patients with complex medical problems and optimising their rehabilitation potential through holistic, tailored interventions.
