Introducing our NEW Parkinson's Exercise Group In Wakefield

We are excited to announce that we have recently set up an exercise group designed specifically for people with Parkinson's at Thornes Park in Wakefield.

Danielle, our exercise specialist therapy assistant was leading a Parkinson's Group at the Derbyshire Stroke Centre and wanted to bring the group to our clients further North.

We approached Thornes Park to discuss this idea and they were eager to help. With a central location, ample parking and friendly and supportive staff, they have been key in helping us to achieve our vision.

The group is aimed at people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's and are functioning at a high level.

Participants need to be

  • independently mobile

  • steady on their feet and and not have regular falls.

  • able to exercise in standing with little or no assistance.

Each participant has an initial assessment with Steph (physiotherapist) and outcome measures completed so that we can record where they are before starting the group.

The group is expertly led by Danielle with a blend of PD warrior exercises, general strengthening and balance and Neuro Fit principles. Most importantly we bring a sense of fun to the group and it's a great place to meet people who understand the diagnosis of Parkinson's.

Each class costs £7.

Thornes Park is in the centre of Wakefield. Address: Horbury Road, WF2 8TY.
